Road Route, Stage 4: Travel Guide Trenčín - Bojnice
Ascents are becoming more serious today. But not straight away. You will take it easy first. From Trenčín, follow the cycling path along the Váh river up stream, the longest in Slovakia (not counting Danube). Make a stop at Skalka rock formation with a medieval Benedictine monastery. In summer it is open daily (no Mondays) from 10am.
After arriving in Nemšová, continue along the canal next to the Váh valley on paved / gravel cycling path to Košeca. Spot a massive prison in Ilava in former gothic castle and monastery along the way.
From Košeca, cycle along the valley in Strážov Protected Landscape Area to Zliechov village. The point of the todays’ route is only a kilometer after the village (672 m above sea level). From here, enjoy a 18-km long descent to Nitrianske Rudno Lake with a beach and option to swim. There are a few restaurants and bars to enjoy.
From here, you cycle over other hills (570 metres above sea level, 250 m elevation gain) with scenic views to Bojnice.
