Day 5, High Tatras - Pieniny Sat, 17 Sept
The fifth stage of your journey takes you from High Tatras to Pieniny National Park. It is a longer, but very scenic route.
From Nový Smokovec, follow the Road of Freedom to Tatranská Lomnica. There are several interesting pieces of (also socialist-era) architecture to spot, as legendary hotels, cable car station and TANAP (Tatra National Park) Museum.
After coming to Road 66, take a cycling path to Tatranská Kotlina, where is an option to visit the Belianska Cave. Behind Tatranská Kotlina, cycling path is more gravel and less asphalt, so decide what suits you better on the way to Ždiar.
Ždiar is a village and resort with great views on Belianske Tatry, the easternmost part of the Tatra Mountains. It is worth to make a stop for lunch or coffee at Ždiarsky dom with local museum and perfect views.
Behind Ždiar, you cycle up but then with long downhill to authentic village Osturňa with some folk architecture. One more hill behind Veľká Franková and then just downhill to Pieniny National Park.

Tatranská Lomnica / 7 km
Another legendary mountain resort of High Tatras, with several interesting buildings to see. You can visit TANAP museum of the national park or take a cable car to Skalnaté Pleso glacier lake or even to Lomnický štít (2634 metres above sea level).
Belianska Cave / 17 km
Popular but beautiful cave. Entrance 10€, times 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, 14:00.
Ždiar / 25 km
7-km long village with traditional folk architecture and perfect views on Belianske Tatry. There is a museum of traditions next to the scenic restaurant.
