Day 3, Győr - Ekofarma Ostrov Travel Guide
The this stage of your journey takes you from Hungary across the border to Slovakia. This route after crossing the Danube river will be more natural, visiting less villages, so prepare yourself with enough water and food supplies. 🙂
From Győr, there is a nice cycling path for the first part and the a minor road with low traffic to Vámosszabadi. Don’t be fooled by the navigation by the big roundabout / there is a cycling path under it.
Crossing the bridge is with car traffic, so wear cycling helmets and be a bit careful. There are nice views upon the river from the bridge.
On Slovak side, follow the dike surrounded by lowland forest and some fields. There are no bars directly at the cycling path, so if you need some more supplies, come down a bit to one of the villages (Medveďov, Klížska Nemá, Kosihy) to refill.
The ecofarm Ostrov (Island) is easy to spot and it has a buffet with some basic food (panini, toasts) and drinks. It is opened daily from 11am until 8pm. Ask there for information to visit the wild island with horses, beavers, natural forests, beaches etc.
