Day 1, Bratislava - Mosonmagyaróvár Travel Guide

The first stage of your journey takes you from Slovakia across the border to Hungary. You will follow the Danube river and then a few Hungarian villages to arrive to a charming little town of Mosonmagyaróvár.

In Bratislava, cross the Old bridge (Starý most) over the Danube river and then turn left. Follow the dike. Navigation tries to get you to the asphalt road on your right side, but stay on the dike. There are better views and more pubs to refresh!

After riding under the new highway bridge Lužný most you reach two pubs (ca 11 kms from the start). Here you see houseboats, where you can turn behind the two pubs and follow the asphalt road right along the Danube river.

Near Čunovo, you can make a little 5-km detour to Danubiana Modern Art museum on a peninsula. Otherwise just continue to cross the border to Hungary.

Cycling path takes you through Rajka and Bezenye to Mosonmagyaróvár. This is the town where you will stay for the night. Take your time to visit the castle, museum, or thermal spa. Tourist information centre is opened until 5pm. There are several nice restaurants, cafés and pubs to enjoy!
